lthough as he previously remarks, Scientologists represent the “only vital new effective force in the world today,” LRH long acknowledged the efforts of others to at least decry oppression and tyranny. In particular, he would seem to have been referencing the many student organizations then working to end a Central Intelligence Agency presence on campus, the many civil rights organizations working on behalf of minorities and the various citizen organizations opposing oppressive taxation. In either case, the political landscape of 1969 had indeed been teeming with hundreds of protesting bodies, frequently in competition with one another and vying to be heard.
